My husband and I enjoy hunting game and in the past 10 years have had the opportunity to visit many game farms around South Africa, Botswana and Zimbabwe.
This year in our “hunt” for a place to take our guests from New Zealand for a true African hunting experience, we came across the incredible Skadi Safari in Limpopo. Our guests from New Zealand are keen hunters, and avid bush lovers, and the experience we had with Monique from SkadiSafari was nothing short of PERFECT!
The booking process was seamless (via their Wilgeboomsdrift website) – Within minutes of making our online booking, we received confirmation via WhatsApp and email. We also received all necessary information and directions/location pin within good time, and any questions were answered quickly and thoroughly.
 
Upon arrival on the farm you are welcomed with true South African friendliness and a feeling of familiarity. The accommodation is beautifully located in the bush, with game roaming freely and the lazy hippo’s greeting you every morning from the river. The units are well equipped and even offer a hot tub for lazing in the afternoons after a fabulous morning hunt or game drive. There is hot water in abundance, comfortable beds that will have you sleeping like a baby and even wifi throughout the camp.
After a good chat about each hunters’ past hunting experience (or lack thereof), what each person’s expectations are and specifics regarding which species are to be hunted, the plan is laid out for the following day’s hunt. Some practice shooting at the range to ensure everyone is able and capable, and then an evening to relax around the fire, enjoying a delicious BBQ under the night sky and some very exciting hunting stories shared among “new friends”.
 
As a woman hunter I was thoroughly impressed the next morning when Monique arrived at the crack of dawn as my PH, which made me feel even more exited, looking forward to a different hunting experience. 
We all grabbed a coffee and a rusk, loaded everything onto the vehicle…… and off we went to see what the bush will present us with for our first hunt! Monique brings a wealth of knowledge of the African bushveld and all its creatures “great and small”. She truly goes out of her way to ensure you find what you have your heart set on hunting. Our group of 4 ranged from 1 very experienced hunter, to 1 completely inexperienced “first time” hunter, and I can truly say that the way in which Monique approached and handled each individual hunter and their level of experience, was nothing short of remarkable. She has a unique ability to instil confidence and calmness in the least experienced hunter, and then in the next breath respectfully and professionally guides the most experienced of hunters. We can honestly attest that Monique’s passion and professionalism for hunting are evident in every aspect of the hunting experience we shared with her, and her love for the bushveld is contagious. Their offering ranges from pretty much any plains game one could think of (Impala, Kudu, Zebra, Blesbok, Wildebeest, Nyala, Eland, Springbok, Warthog, Giraffe, Ostrich…… the list is endless) right through to large game such as Lion, Hippo and the ever fearless Buffalo. There is absolutely something for every hunter’s delight, and in addition they also offer taxidermy services to ensure any trophy’s are beautifully handled and mounted.

Our guests return to New Zealand with some wonderful hunting stories to share and boast about and some very special memories shared with all of you. They have already decided they will be booking with you again in 2026…… this time just for LONGER, and with a few more Kiwi’s in town……
